Please note Worcestershire Camera Club special interest groups (Digital Photography, Contemporary, Audio Visual, and Photography Development) are currently running online via Zoom.  Members signed up for notifications from the groups will receive emails with details of the meetings.

The meeting was yet another delight with plenty of input and comment from everyone.  We enjoyed a wide variety of stimulating images from, some of which are herewith.

Michael Hallett joined us as a guest and showed his evolving series of images, ‘The Strip’ which concern beach and promenade life in Lanzarote.

Mike has since revised the content. To see more here's the link:

Tessa showed a selection of pictures from her weekend with the RPS Contemporary Group.  We were fascinated by ‘From the Thames’ by  Duncan Unsworth.  A a set of small ‘found objects’ recovered from the River Thames.  The objects were placed in a shallow glass tray with water from the same location with the addition of sea-salt.  Over time the saline solution evaporated.  The resulting 'still life' was placed on a flatbed scanner and scanned, producing very appealing artistic results.

The other selection was ’Thresholds’ by Richard Brayshaw which explored ‘the threshold between space and place’.

St. Paul’s Hostel Project.

St. Paul’s Hostel for the Homeless needs pictures to illustrate the plight of homeless people in Worcester and how the hostel provides much needed short-term accommodation and actively seeks to help people back into mainstream society.  With a drastic 52% cut in funding, images are needed to encourage new ‘funding partners’ and to heighten public awareness. Those who can help will be given privileged opportunities to take photos of  homeless people, their environment, locations  in and around the hostel and of homeless people in the city.

Tessa and Clive outlined the St. Paul's Hostel Project and several CPG members were immediately keen to participate.

If you would like to be part of this project, contact Clive.

Here are some of the pictures taken during the visit on the previous afternoon. For this purpose we've selected images without identifiable people in the frame
